VOTE NOVEMBER 8

One ballot request:
Renew the expiring 2007 operating levy with no changes.

Financial Stability. Academic Excellence.

How does the district use the levy dollars?

The operating levy supports learning by helping to pay for the basic needs of the district:

Teacher and Staff Salaries  Books and Supplies  Academic Programs  Operating Expenses

5 Things to Know About the Renewal Request:

  1.  The levy generates $5.2 million per year, which is 8% of the district’s annual operating budget.
  2.  The renewal would extend the levy for another 10 years, until 2027.
  3.  The levy includes an annual inflationary increase, set each year by the Minnesota Department of Education.
  4.  The district is not asking residents for “new money” with this renewal request. The levy is already part of the taxes paid by homeowners.
  5.  If the ballot question fails on November 8, the district will have one more year to renew the levy. The school board would likely ask voters to renew the levy in 2017, incurring the cost of another election.
