Elementary Schools (K-4)

Student at front of classThe district's five elementary schools — two neighborhood schools and three magnet schools — serve students in Kindergarten through Grade 4. Schools range in size from 270-400 students and offer a well-defined, comprehensive and inclusive curriculum.

All elementary schools offer strong academic programs that emphasize 21st century skills such as creativity, collaboration, communication and critical thinking. Our highly-qualified, caring teachers focus on the social, emotional and academic growth of each individual child.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL MISSION
The district's elementary schools aim to improve student achievement through the development of quality curriculum and the support of effective instruction.

The basic skills in reading, oral and written communication, mathematics, science and social studies are stressed throughout the elementary grades. Activities of the individual classroom teacher are supplemented with specialized staff in music, Spanish, physical education, art and media instruction. In addition, each elementary has its own school counselor who works with students on developing essential skills for social and academic success.
