District 197 voters approve bond referendum
Posted on 05/08/2018

On May 8, residents voted to allow West St Paul-Mendota Heights-Eagan Area Schools (District 197) to issue building bonds for additions, renovations and repairs at all elementary and middle schools and the high school.

Unofficial results:
Yes - 3,601 (62%)
No - 2,180 (38%)

“We are very grateful to our residents for supporting our students, staff and schools by the passing the referendum,” said Superintendent Peter Olson-Skog. “These funds will enable us to complete necessary building maintenance and repairs, modernize learning spaces and update our fine arts and athletics facilities.”

Now that the referendum has been approved, district administrators and staff will begin the design process and set construction timelines. Gathering stakeholder input is an important part of developing solutions that meet the needs and priorities of our school communities. In order to gain input, sub-committees and focus groups will be formed, with meetings expected to begin as soon as the end of May.

If you are interested in participating in the design process, please watch the district website for more information.

Some smaller projects could begin this summer, with larger projects starting early next year. It is anticipated that all projects will be completed by the fall of 2021.

Updates on the construction process for the community will be provided through the district’s website, www.isd197.org
