Two Rivers Students Earn Bilingual Seals and College Credit

The academic achievements of Two Rivers High School students keep rolling in. Congratulations to the Two Rivers students who recently passed the state-recognized bilingual and multilingual seals test and earned themselves college credit! This winter, nearly 20 students in grades 10 through 12 demonstrated proficiency in one or more languages: Amharic, Arabic, Chinese, French, Spanish, and Oromo.

The Bilingual and Multilingual Seals were created as an official recognition by the state of Minnesota for proficiency in a language in addition to English. At School District 197, it’s a way for us to acknowledge the value of speaking more than one language, while also recognizing that students bring many different assets to our classrooms that aren't traditionally recognized.

Upon graduation these students will not only have college credits on their official transcript but can also receive the Minnesota Multilingual or Bilingual Seal which acknowledges their proficiency in a language other than English in addition to the completion of all required English Language Arts credits!

We are so proud of our students as they prepare for their bright futures! #TogetherWeThrive197
