Building Connections and Belonging Through the Friendly Hills Ambassadors

Starting at a new school can often feel overwhelming and challenging, but Friendly Hills Middle School is committed to helping students feel comfortable from day one. The Friendly Hills Ambassadors, a dedicated group of seventh and eighth grade student leaders, play an important role in making sure every new student feels welcomed and supported.

The Friendly Hills Ambassadors serve as friendly faces and trusted guides throughout the school year. When a new student arrives, ambassadors step in right away to help them get comfortable in their new school.

Ambassadors help students learn their class schedules, open their lockers, locate important areas in the building, share helpful tips, and offer encouragement. Their leadership, kindness, and willingness to help make a lasting difference for students who are experiencing a new beginning. The group also includes several students who speak different languages, helping to alleviate the anxiety that some new students might feel.

“My favorite part of being an ambassador is meeting new students and showing them around the school on their first day,” says eighth grader Warfa Osman. Eighth grader Meba Assefa mentions that she has helped countless new students this year get adjusted to our school and that she loves answering all the questions that new students have.

The Friendly Hills Ambassadors program reflects the commitment of the school and district to creating a welcoming and supportive environment for all students. More importantly, they provide a friendly face the moment they walk through our doors.
