Celebrating the Love of Reading at Our Schools
Published March 2025
March is National Reading Month! Students across the District have been celebrating the love of reading in many ways.
Heritage E-Stem Magnet School students participated in one of their favorite annual traditions—the Battle of the Books—where students put their love of reading to the test! In this fun reading competition, teams read a selection of books and compete in a trivia-style contest, answering questions about characters, plots, and themes.
This year, Two Rivers High School students continued the tradition of bringing the Read Like a Warrior tour to our elementary schools. Here are some photos from their stops at Moreland Arts and Health Sciences Magnet School and Garlough Environmental Magnet School. A big thank you to our high schoolers for starting their day early to inspire and make meaningful connections with younger students.
Students at Friendly Hills officially logged 210,578 reading minutes and raised over $ 6,000 during their annual month-long Read-A-Thon! Students earned fun prizes for the minutes they read while collecting donations for new books.
