Fall 2024 Season Recap
The fall season for Two Rivers High School athletics and activities just wrapped up, and what a season our 464 high school fall student-athletes and 48 fall activity participants had! Check out our fall season recap here. Please join us in recognizing our students and sending a special thanks to all of the coaches, advisors, and families for supporting our students in so many ways this fall!

Here are some season highlights:
- Fall activities participants boasted an average team GPA of 3.36 and an average program retention rate of 72%.
- Throughout the 11-week season from August 22 to November 8, Two Rivers hosted 116 home games and events, including four Minnesota State High School League home Section events across three sports.
- Two Rivers teacher and coach Erik Kluznik was named Metro East Conference Coach of the Year for his work with both the boys and girls cross country teams, each of which captured first-place finishes in the MEC.
- Boys soccer and football also claimed Metro East Conference championships.
- Girls swim and dive earned a strong third-place finish, while girls soccer, girls tennis, and volleyball rounded out the competitive season with finishes of 4th, 5th, and 6th, respectively.
- Debate team members Tommy Larsen and McKinley Cherrier made the Varsity State Semifinals and were recognized as Minnesota Debate Teachers Association All State.
Debate
The Debate team competed in 6 regular season tournaments and the State tournament in the Minnesota Classic Debate format. At the varsity level Two Rivers were tournament champions twice. Patrick Bohmbach and Elizabeth Barnes won the Eastview Lightning Classic. Thomas Larsen and McKinley Cherrier won the Panther Online Invitational. All of the varsity teams combined had a 62% winning percentage, up 10% from last year. At State, Thomas and McKinley were semifinalists, and were also recognized as Minnesota Debate Teachers Association All State for their performance overall in the regular season. In junior varsity the team of Millie De Leon and Eli Brown finished in 2nd place at Panther Online Invitational. At the Novice level multiple teams earned Honorable Mention. At the State tournament the final two teams were both from Two Rivers, with Levi Paper and Saakar Baysal defeating Owen Hackett and Jackson Mason to be named tournament champions.
Fall Play
This November, Two Rivers High School’s drama department brought Robin Hood to the stage at the Two Rivers Auditorium. Directed by Erica Ramisch and Assistant Director Mary Beth Townsend, the production featured 22 talented cast members who entertained over 750 spectators throughout the three performances. The production was a true showcase of the hard work and dedication of both the cast and crew, with each scene filled with energy and skill.
Girls Soccer
The girls soccer team finished the season with a strong fourth-place finish. Edith Halverson, Faye Leitner, and Issabell Williams were all named All-Conference for their outstanding performances and contributions to the team’s success.
Football
The football team had an impressive undefeated regular season before narrowly losing a close section semifinal game to Apple Valley. Several players earned recognition for their outstanding performances, with 12th-grader Caleb Koury selected to participate in the Football All-Star Game. Additionally, Carter Garland, Caleb Koury, Dayven Clairmont, Jacion Jones, Drew Altavilla, and Johnny Laugerman were named All-Conference for their contributions to the team’s success throughout the season.
Dakota Hawks
The Dakota Hawks adapted soccer team won the MSHSL State Championship! We're so proud of the three Two Rivers student-athletes who contributed to a successful season.
Girls Cross Country
The girls cross country team had an outstanding season, winning the Conference Championship and sending three members—Sophia Agan, Josie Miller, and Charlotte Chandler —to the MSHSL State Tournament. In addition, several athletes earned All-Conference honors for their performances throughout the season: Maria Becker, Gabriela Walz, Lily Wollan, Charlotte Chandler, Josie Miller, and Sophia Agan were all recognized for their contributions to the team's success in Girls Cross Country.
Boys Cross Country
The boys cross country team had an impressive season as conference champions, finishing second in their section and qualifying for the MSHSL State Tournament, where they placed seventh. Niah Fernandes was recognized as the Metro East Boys Cross Country Runner of the Year for his outstanding performance. In addition, several athletes earned All-Conference honors, including Quinn Keyes, Lucas Esten, Silas Bloom, Haakon Hanson, Niah Fernandes, George Dahlager, Riley Tillander and Max Molinaro.
Girls Swim and Dive
The girls swim and dive team achieved an impressive third-place finish, showcasing their skill and dedication throughout the season. In addition to the team's success, Sada Gustafson qualified for the MSHSL State Girls Diving Tournament, where she placed 24th, further highlighting the team's individual talent and achievements.
Girls Tennis
The girls tennis team finished fifth this season, with Olivia Kanavati earning All-Conference honors. The team showed great teamwork and dedication, with each player contributing to their success.
Volleyball
The Volleyball team finished the season strong in 5th place, with Sophia Amundson (11) earning All-Conference honors for her standout performance. The team’s dedication and teamwork were key to their success this season.
Boys Soccer
The boys soccer team had a standout season, finishing with an impressive record of 11-2-5 as conference champs and securing a spot as section runner-up to Woodbury. Several players earned well-deserved recognition for their exceptional performances, including Jack Filhart, who was named First Team All-State, and Jeremiah Shenouda, who earned Second Team All-State honors. Additionally, Quinn Fraley, Jack Filhart, Jeremiah Shenouda, Corbin Challifour, and Dylan Anaya were all named All-Conference for their contributions to the team's success.
