Winter High School Activities Recap!

The winter season for Two Rivers High School athletics and activities just wrapped up, and what a season our 297 high school winter student-athletes and 106 high school winter activity participants had! Here’s a recap of the winter season—please join us in congratulating our students and sending a special thanks to all the coaches, advisors, and families for supporting our students in so many ways this winter!

Musical 
The Two Rivers Theatre Department presented Little Shop of Horrors on two different weekends at the Two Rivers Auditorium. The production received numerous honors through The Hennepin Theatre Trust. Students who received an individual honor—Max Oliver-Machuca, Emily Christiansen, Quinn Hendel, Chloe Holm, Julia Francis, Gimmick Doboszenski, Scooter Stoik, and Kai Rocke—will be able to perform and/or be involved in the Spotlight Showcase at the State Theater on June 13.

Robotics
The Lightning Turtles robotics team made the playoffs at Duluth's Northern Lights Regional Robotics Tournament. In the North Star Regional event in Lacrosse, WI, the Turtles placed 7th out of 39 teams. They had 12 wins and only 2 losses during the North Star Regional tournament—the best the team has ever done since it was created in 2009. The team received the honor of winning the "Gracious Professionalism,” an award given to the team who exemplifies high-quality work while emphasizing the values of others and respecting the individuals of a community. 

Speech and Debate
The Speech and Debate program is growing! In another successful season, the team took third place in two invitationals and second place in three invitationals. Arina Axinia, Quinn Hendel, and Grace Lyles received the National Academic All-American award from the National Speech and Debate Association. Thomas Larsen, Grace Lyles, and Aliyah Karon were Minnesota State High School League state speech tournament qualifiers. McKinley Cherrier, Isabelle Auran, Maria Axinia, Joshua Langemo, and Quinn Hendel were National Individual Event Tournament of Champions qualifiers. Marina Axinia, Quinn Henedel, and Dhanush Malempati were awarded the National Speech and Debate Association Speaking and Service award.

Winterguard
Students performed their show "P.S." at seven competitions this winter, placing third or higher at each one. They ended their season with the Championship Show in Osseo, where the Warriors took third place in their class!

Dance
The Dance team had a perfect 4-0 season record, won the Metro East Conference Champions, and competed in the State Jazz Tournament! Jillian Arnold, Rachel Carter, Lindsay Overell, and Chloe Ostrem earned All Conference. Rachel Carter, Charlotte Chandler, and Ava Strohoffer were named Honorable Mention All Conference. Chloe Ostrem and Lauren Walsh were named All State Kick, and Charlotte Chandler was named All State Jazz.

Gymnastics
The Gymnastics team had a 4-2 season record and took home third place in the Metro East Conference. Lucy Rapp, Marin Awada, Ellie Kessler, and Maddie Sura were named All Conference, and Ava Warford and Madeline Kephart earned Honorable Mention All Conference. Lucy Rapp also performed at the State Tournament, making it her third year competing at the state level.

Girls Hockey
The Girls Hockey team finished with an 11-14-2 season record and was a section semifinalist. Bryn Christopherson and Josie Daly were All Conference, and Kate Reubish, Evie Daly, and Mia Cheesebrough were Honorable Mention All Conference.

Boys Hockey
The Boys Hockey team finished with a 17-9-1 season record (their best win/loss record in 25 years!) and was a section semifinalist. Casey Ball and Brady Altier were All Conference, and Fostin Woolsey, Matthew Rash, Tyler Ouren, and Eddie Auran were Honorable Mention All Conference. In addition, Head Coach Brandon Ferraro was named East Metro Coach of the Year! 

Girls Basketball
The Girls Basketball team finished their season with a 5-22 season record. Gabi Kirchner received All Conference, and Sophia Amundson received Honorable Mention All Conference.

Boys Basketball
The Boys Basketball team had a 10-18 season record and finished as a section semifinalist. Carson Christiansen was All Conference, and Thomas Lutz and Keeshaun Powell were Honorable Mention All Conference. 

Girls Nordic Ski
The Girls Nordic Ski finished strong as Metro East Conference Champions! Sophia Kanavati, Ella Hoffman, and Willa Vogen were All Conference. Julia Munson, Samantha Villa, Eleanor Smith, and Claire Stein were Honorable Mention All Conference.

Boys Nordic Ski
Boys Nordic Ski finished 5th place in the Metro East Conference. Silas Bloom was All Conference, and Quinn Keyes and Luke Reisig were Honorable Mention All Conference.

Boys Swim and Dive
The Boys Swim and Dive finished with a 3-3 season record. George Altier, Nathan Frisch, Jack Dahlager, Ruslan Bayuk, Finley Gustafson were All Conference. Charley Cook, Daniel Kloos, and Lucas Nadeau were Honorable Mention All Conference. Finley Gustafson, George Altier, Jack Dahlager, and Nathan Frisch were State Participants in Swim and All State, and Charley Cook was a state participant in diving.

Wrestling
The Wrestling team finished with an 8-18 season record. Jon Wollan was named All Conference, Trey Sann and Delfino Mancha were named Honorable Mention All Conference, and Trey Sann was a State Participant.
