Elections

A school district general election will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 for the purpose of electing four residents to serve on the seven-member School Board for School District 197. The terms of four current School Board seats (Brenda Corbett, Joanne Mansur, Byron Schwab and Terry Stamman) are expiring on December 31, 2019.

The term of each open position is four years, from January 2020 to January 2024. During the legal filing period of July 30-August 13, four people filed their Affidavits of Candidacy for the ISD 197 School Board's four open seats and their names will appear on the ballot:

  • Terry Stamman of West St. Paul

  • Byron Schwab of West St. Paul

  • Brenda Corbett of West St. Paul

  • Joanne Mansur of Mendota Heights

VOTE EARLY! No reason is needed to absentee vote.  Absentee ballots can be completed by mail, or in person (at any of the following locations between September 20-November 4, Monday through Friday):
    -     ISD 197 District Office (1897 Delaware Avenue, Mendota Heights)
    -     Dakota County Government Center (1590 Highway 55, Hastings)
    -     Dakota County Northern Service Center (1 Mendota Road W, West St. Paul)

To absentee vote by mail - Voters may download the Absentee Ballot Application and mail the completed application to School District 197, 1897 Delaware Avenue, Mendota Heights, MN 55118 with attention to Mary Amidon.  Please make sure you submit your application in a timely manner to allow enough time for the ballot to be mailed to you and for you to return your ballot before Election Day. Late ballots cannot be counted.


To absentee vote in person
- Absentee voting in person at the ISD 197 district office can be done between 8:00am-4:00pm Monday through Friday from September 20 until November 1st.  On Monday, November 4th, the hours will be 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Please go to the Dakota County website for specific in-person voting hours at any of the other locations.
